In the Chinese machine tool standard, flat bed CNC lathes usually start with "CK". Take the popular CK6150/1000 as an example:

• CK stands for CNC Lathe.
• 61 represents the Flat Bed Type CNC Lathe.
• 50 means the Swing Over Bed is 500mm.
• 1000 means the Maximum Machining Length is 1000mm.

Common models include CK6140, CK6150, CK6160, CK6185, CK61100 and CK61125. Generally, the larger the last two digits, the larger the workpiece diameter the lathe can handle.

When selecting a Chinese-made flat bed CNC lathe, the Machining Envelope is the most important factor:

A. Determine Workpiece Dimensions

• Disc Parts: The maximum diameter of the workpiece must not exceed the Swing Over Bed of the lathe.
• Shaft Parts: The workpiece diameter should be smaller than the Swing Over Cross Slide. The length must be less than the Maximum Machining Length.
• Bar Feeding: If the workpiece needs to pass through the spindle for continuous processing, the diameter must be smaller than the Spindle Bore Diameter.

B. Consider Loading Capacity and Material

• For workpieces with a diameter over 800mm or a length exceeding 3 meters, you must strictly check the Maximum Loading Capacity of the lathe.
• The Material (e.g., Stainless Steel vs. Aluminum) determines your requirements for spindle power and guideway hardness.

C. Optional Accessories to Improve Efficiency

• Long Shaft Support: We recommend adding a Steady Rest and Follow Rest to prevent long, thin shafts from deforming during machining.
• Mass Production: We suggest upgrading to a Hydraulic Chuck and Hydraulic Tailstock. This shortens clamping time and greatly improves work efficiency.
